Gone Fishing

Growing up on the river banks of the catawba river was a wonderful experience.
When I was approximately twelve years old, two of my friends and I decided we would make fishing rods and go fishing.  We made a fishing rod and reels with wood and a empty bobbin from a spoon of thread, safety pin for  a hook.
Dug some worms for bait out the flower bed and we were off to the river.

We got our fishing gear and sneaked down the path to the river as we did not want our parents to know what that we were going to the river because it was forbidden without an adult.
We baited our hooks (safety pins) and waited for a fish to bite.
We heard someone coming, we looked up and it was Henkel my two friends daddy.
We all started running but he caught up to them and gave them an awful beating with a belt.
I got away but Henkel told my dad and I was in deep trouble.

No more sneaking off to the river without an adult.
